Star Wars: Galactic Defense Coming Soon for Android and iOS
A long time ago, in a galaxy far-far away… actually in our own, but the long time is true, a movie was released, that forever changed the way people look at science fiction movies. It was called Star Wars, and featured an unusual set of heroes – a farm boy from a desert planet, a princess, a smuggler and a large, hairy thing with a roar that would frighten a Mobile Pokies game to pay up the jackpot on the spot. These heroes were ready to take on the evil Empire, and succeeded in creating a franchise that lived on for decades – and still does.
The latest game to be released in the Star Wars universe will be a mobile exclusive – a tower defense game masterfully designed by DeNA (the company responsible for titles like Final Fantasy: Record Keeper or Dungeons & Dragons: Arena of War). According to a developer diary posted by the developer on YouTube, the game will offer its players a unique mobile gameplay, with lifelike characters moving around the screen, transporting the player directly in the middle of a battle between good and evil.
Yes, good and evil, as the player will have the chance to choose on which side to fight. During the lively, strategical battles players will have the chance to call reinforcements in the forms of legendary heroes, like Luke Skywalker or Han Solo, Darth Vader or Darth Maul, or even the Millenium Falcon or a TIE Fighter. The battles themselves will happen on planets from all six movies in the franchise: players will have the chance to defend their positions on Tatooine, Hoth or Endor, but also Felucia and Genosis. Besides, players will have the chance to play the game either by themselves offline, or in a multi-player environment against others, through the internet.
The players will have the chance to control up to three legendary Star Wars characters simultaneously during the battle. According to the developer preview available on the game’s website, the characters themselves will be animated in the most lifelike way possible, creating a truly immersive and unique mobile gaming experience. Unlike playing the Pokies Online, the Star Wars: Galactic Defense will allow its users to experience collaborative gameplay at a whole new level.
The release date of the game is yet to be announced – all DeNA has shared with the increasingly impatient crowds of Star Wars slash Tower Defense fans that it will be available “soon” or “later this year”, or “Q4-2014” – a time frame we are well into at this time. Anyway, keep an eye on the Play Store, the App Store or the Amazon Appstore for news. Until then you can play some Online Pokies to kill time – and may the Force give you patience and be with you.
